Hakan Samuelsson Returns As Volvo CEO For Two-Year Term

Volvo Car AB has announced that Hakan Samuelsson will return as CEO for a two-year term starting April 1, 2025. He will replace Jim Rowan as the Board searches for a long-term successor.

Samuelsson previously led the company from 2012 to 2022. Volvo cited the need for leadership with industry experience amid technological shifts, geopolitical challenges, and increasing competition. Samuelsson is currently a board member of several companies, including ABB E-mobility, Bet Motors, Modular Management, and eLeapPower. Previously, he has also held the position of Chairman of the Board at Scandlines and Polestar. He was also the CEO of MAN Truck & Bus SE and Executive Vice President of R&D and Production at Scania Group.
