Gurumoorthy Mahalingam & V. Chandrasekaran Appointed As Independent Directors Of CARE Ratings
Gurumoorthy Mahalingam has been reappointed as an Independent Director of CARE Ratings Limited (CareEdge Ratings) with effect from November 21, 2025, subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Further, V. Chandrasekaran has been reappointed as an Independent Director with effect from December 7, 2025, subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Mahalingam has over four decades of experience in India’s financial regulatory ecosystem. His career spans key roles at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). At RBI, he worked across financial market operations, regulation, foreign exchange reserves management, debt management, and banking supervision. As a Whole-Time Member on SEBI’s Board, he oversaw regulation of mutual funds, stock exchanges, foreign portfolio investors, corporate governance, and capital markets. He currently chairs SEBI’s Advisory Committees on Secondary Markets and the Corporate Bond Market. He began his career at State Bank of India in 1978 and holds a master’s in statistics and operations research from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from Birmingham Business School, UK.
Chandrasekaran is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over three decades of experience in the financial services sector. He is a retired Executive Director (Investment) at Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). His career spans extensive roles in life insurance finance, housing finance, and mutual fund investments, with deep involvement in investment decision-making, monitoring, accounting, research, and risk management. His expertise covers a broad spectrum of investment functions, contributing to strategic and regulatory oversight in large financial institutions.
