
Goldman Sachs India Co-Chairman Gunjan Samtani To Retire; Ken Castelino & Balaji Sivasubramanian Named Co-Heads
Goldman Sachs has announced that Gunjan Samtani, Co-Chairman of its India operations and Head of the firm’s India global centre, will retire at the end of 2026. He will continue in his current role until his departure.
The bank has appointed Ken Castelino and Balaji Sivasubramanian as Co-Heads of its India operations, with both executives set to work alongside Samtani during the transition period.
Samtani joined Goldman Sachs as a Vice President (VP) in 2010 and went on to hold several leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Engineering, Global Co-Head of Risk Engineering, and Co-COO of Goldman Sachs Services in India. He was named Managing Director (MD) in 2012 and a Partner in 2020.
Castelino currently leads Global Banking & Markets–Public in India and serves as Co-Head of Global Equities Electronic Trading Strats and Engineering. Sivasubramanian is Head of Engineering in India and the Global Head of Enterprise Partnerships Engineering. Both will continue their existing divisional reporting responsibilities while overseeing the firm’s operations in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
