GAIL Board To Appoint Dr. Banwari Lal & Rupa Saikia As Non-Official Independent Directors

GAIL (India) Limited is set to appoint Dr. Banwari Lal and Rupa Saikia as Non-Official Independent Directors on its Board following their nomination by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The ministry approved their nominations for a period of three years, effective August 12, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Dr. Banwari Lal is an internal medicine specialist with 24 years of experience in diagnosing and managing a range of medical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, anaemia and respiratory diseases. Based in Faridabad, he serves as a Senior Consultant at the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences. Over his career, he has been associated with healthcare institutions including Metro Hospital, Doctors Plaza, Holy Family Hospital, Max Super Speciality Hospital and Fortis Escorts Hospital. His clinical practice covers the assessment and treatment of adult medical conditions, with experience across hospital and consultation settings. His medical training and professional experience span more than two decades in internal medicine. Dr. Lal holds MBBS and MD qualifications and is also a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP), reflecting his training in internal medicine.
