Four In Five U.K. Boards Assess AI’s Role In Corporate Decision-Making: Survey

A majority of U.K. corporate Boards are evaluating the extent to which artificial intelligence (AI) should be involved in decision-making, according to a survey conducted by Board Intelligence.

The study, which surveyed 400 Board Directors, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and finance leaders, found that 84% of respondents had discussed which decisions could be supported or handled by AI. Nearly half, or 49%, said their organisations had moved beyond discussions and were implementing AI in decision-making processes. The findings come as businesses examine the impact of AI on governance, operations, and workforce planning. The U.K. government has also launched an AI Economics Institute to study the technology’s effect on productivity and business performance.

Despite growing adoption, concerns remain about governance frameworks keeping pace with technological developments. Around 40% of respondents said Boards may require only limited changes to their existing processes over the next five years.
