Former CEO of HDFC Bank, Aditya Puri Appointed as Senior Advisor of Deloitte

Aditya Puri, the ex-CEO of HDFC Bank has been appointed as the Senior Advisor of Deloitte. Puri will use his experience to help Deloitte drive change in different industries.

Aditya Puri said “Digital and technology interventions are already revolutionising the financial services landscape and we must ensure that everyone in India and especially the underserved communities have access to affordable credit solutions. Deloitte, the world’s largest professional services firm, is known for its commitment to purpose and innovation and I am glad to join this force of change.”

In a statement, Deloitte said, “He also has a personal vision to champion initiatives aimed at boosting affordable healthcare and financial inclusion across India.”

Aditya Puri, a Senior Advisor to Deloitte’s Asia private equity team, served as the CEO and Managing Director of HDFC Bank from 1994 to October 2020. During his leadership, he transformed HDFC Bank into India’s largest private sector bank with over $210 billion in assets (as of September 30, 2020) and the country’s most valuable bank, with a market cap exceeding $90 billion (as of October 2020). He received multiple awards, including being recognised in Barron’s Top 30 Global CEOs and Fortune’s Top 20 Businesspersons globally. Before HDFC Bank, he spent over 20 years at Citibank in various roles across multiple countries, including Malaysia. Aditya Puri is a qualified Chartered Accountant who holds a commerce degree from Punjab University.

In June 2023, Deloitte had also appointed Manoj Kohli, the former CEO of Bharati Airtel Ltd and Softbank India, as a senior advisor.
