Finolex Industries’ CEO Ajit Venkataraman to assume charge as MD
Ajit Venkataraman, the current Chief Executive Officer of Finolex Industries Limited, has been appointed as an Additional Director and Managing Director (Key Managerial Personnel) of the company for a period of five years, effective from June 1, 2023. Ajit Venkataraman holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and possesses 28 years of extensive experience in the United States, India, and Southeast Asia. With a diverse background in various industries, both domestically and internationally, he has a remarkable track record of consistently delivering strong performance. Ajit Venkataraman has successfully managed multicultural organisations in the automotive and logistics sectors, excelling in strategic planning, joint ventures, market entry, business turnaround, product development, and management. Since August 1, 2022, he has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Prior to his current role, he held positions in well-known companies such as Tecumseh, Kearney, Tata Motors, APM Terminals Inland Services Asia, and Greaves Cotton Limited. Ajit Venkataraman will replace Anil V. Whabi who will step down from his position of Managing Director.
In another development, Kanchan U. Chitale has been re-appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director at Finolex Industries Limited for a second consecutive term of five years, commencing from April 1, 2024. Kanchan U. Chitale, aged 71, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Since 1984, she has been engaged in the practice of chartered accountancy under the firm name ‘Kanchan Chitale& Associates.’
In addition to completing a residential management course at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and a lead assessor course for ISO 9000 quality systems, she has been an active member of various professional associations, including the IIM-A Alumni Association, Association of Women Industrialists of Maharashtra (WIMA), and the Bombay Chartered Accountants Society.
