Eli Leenaars Appointed Independent Director Of Kotak Mahindra Bank

The Board of Directors of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has appointed Eli Leenaars as an Additional Independent Director for a period of four years, with effect from January 1, 2024.

Eli Leenaars has over 35 years of experience in the financial services sector and has experience managing businesses through a wide range of initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, complex corporate restructurings, and strategic initiatives in challenging financial environments. Leenaars had a 24-year career (since 1991) at ING Group N.V. and its subsidiaries, where he held numerous key management positions, including as Chairman of ING Poland, Chairman and CEO of ING Latin America, and Chairman and CEO of ING Central and Eastern Europe. His influence extended to the global stage as a member of ING’s Executive Board, overseeing Global Retail and Private Banking operations as well as Group Technology and Operations. Notably, he served as CEO of ING Direct N.V. from 2010 to 2015, contributing significantly to its success. Later, he brought his wealth of knowledge to UBS Group AG, where he served as the Group MD and Vice-Chairman of the Global Wealth Management Division. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Group COO at Quintet Private Bank, a Luxembourg-based institution with operations spanning six European countries.
