
Economist Ashok Lahiri Set To Be Appointed As Vice Chairman Of NITI Aayog
Ashok Lahiri is set to be appointed as Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, according to government sources. Separately, Gobardhan Das is expected to join NITI Aayog as a Member. He is currently the Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, and previously worked at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Lahiri is a Member of the West Bengal legislative assembly from Balurghat and has served on the 15th Finance Commission. He earlier held the role of Chief Economic Adviser under the governments of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh between 2002 and 2007. He studied at Presidency University, Kolkata, and the Delhi School of Economics.
