Dr. Andreas E. Busch Joins Sun Pharmaceutical Industries As Independent Director; Rama Bijapurkar To Retire
Dr. Andreas Eugen Busch has been appointed as an Independent Director of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, effective May 12, 2026, subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Meanwhile, Rama Bijapurkar will retire from the Board as Independent Director with effect from May 20, 2026, upon completion of her term.
Dr. Busch is the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at Absci, where he oversees research and development, technical operations, and internal as well as partner-led programmes. He has experience in drug discovery, pharmaceutical research & development. He has previously led R&D functions at companies including Sanofi, Bayer, and Shire. He also serves as Extraordinary Professor of Pharmacology at the Goethe University Frankfurt in Frankfurt, where he completed his PhD in Pharmacology. His work in pharmaceutical research has contributed to the development of more than 15 commercial drugs from laboratory research to approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with additional products in late-stage clinical development.
Bijapurkar is a business-market strategy consultant and researcher focused on India’s consumer economy. She runs an independent management consulting practice and works across sectors with a focus on integrating market understanding into business strategy. She is a Professor of Management Practice at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Co-Founder of People Research on India’s Consumer Economy, a not-for-profit research organisation focused on India’s economy and consumer environment for business strategy and public policy use. She is the author of books including ‘We Are Like That Only’, ‘A Never-Before World’, and ‘Customer In The Boardroom’. Bijapurkar holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Physics from the University of Delhi and a postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Her professional experience includes work with McKinsey & Company, Nielsen India, and TNS India.
