
Chandrashekhar Bhave Set To Retire As Independent Director Of Avenue Supermarts After Completing His Tenure By Mid-May
Chandrashekhar Bhave will retire as an Independent Director of Avenue Supermarts Limited upon completion of his tenure, with effect from May 16, 2026.
Bhave was Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from 2008 to 2011 and held roles with the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). In 1996, he left the IAS to set up National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL), serving as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) until 2008. He has served as Chairman of the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) Board since 2012. He has also been associated with companies, including Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from 1975, Bhave worked in the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India across finance, industries, and petroleum.
