BREAKING NEWS: Asian Paints’ co-founder Ashwin Suryakant Dani passed away

The grand old man of the Indian paint industry Ashwin Suryakant Dani, co-founder of Asian Paints passed away on September 28 at the age of 79. Mr Dani held the position of Non-Executive Chairman at Asian Paints Ltd, India’s largest paint company operating across 16 countries. He had moved to the non-executive role in June 2021.
He held various pivotal roles within the company, including the Director in charge of Research and Development and the works Director among others. His notable contributions in driving innovative ideas in research and development left a lasting impact on both the company and the paint industry. After serving as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the company for nearly ten years in 2009 he moved away from day to operations.

Dani was conferred with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Paint Association (IPA) in 2011.

He was born on September 26, 1944, in Mumbai. In 1966, he achieved his B. Sc. in Chemistry from Mumbai University. He completed his master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron.
