Avenue Supermarts Appoints Harishchandra Bharuka as Independent Director

The Board of Directors of Avenue Supermarts Limited has approved the appointment of Harishchandra M. Bharuka as an Independent Director, with effect from January 13, 2024. For a term of five years, subject to the approval of shareholders.

Bharuka has over 40 years of experience with leading MNCs. Bharuka served as Managing Director of Kansai Nerolac Paints from 2001 onwards for more than 20 years until he retired from this position in 2022. He has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Life-Time Achievement Award from the Indian Paint Association. He has been featured in the Business Today – PWC list of India’s top 100 CEOs from non-BFSI sectors, which ranked him No. 31, and the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2017 in the Chemical & Plastics Industry segment. He holds a graduation degree in commerce from the University of Mumbai and is a member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.
