APEZ’s Independent Director Nirupama Rao Retired

Nirupama Rao, Independent Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, has completed her term on April 21, 2024.

Nirupama Rao, the founder and trustee of the South Asian Symphony Foundation, has established the South Asian Symphony Orchestra. She served as Foreign Secretary in the Government of India from 2009 to 2011, previously holding roles as Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka, and Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. She was the Ambassador of India to the United States. Following her retirement, she became a fellow at Brown University. She also held the position of George Ball Adjunct Professor at Columbia University and was a Pacific Leadership Fellow at UC San Diego. She is a Global Fellow of The Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, DC, and serves on the Boards of IIM Bangalore, ICRIER New Delhi, and the U.S. India Business Council. She holds an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Pondicherry University and has received the Vanitha Ratna Award from the Government of Kerala. She was recognised as one of Foreign Policy’s 100 most influential women on Twitter.
