Amitava Chatterjee Retires As Managing Director Of State Bank Of India

Amitava Chatterjee, Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI), has retired from his position w.e.f. December 29, 2024.

Chatterjee was also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of SBI Capital Markets, the investment banking subsidiary of SBI. Previously, he led SBI’s New Delhi Circle, overseeing regions such as NCT, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Haryana, managing 1,700 branches, 17,000 employees, and a business volume of Rs 5 trillion. With over 33 years of experience, he has held roles including Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager, and General Manager, focusing on business development, risk and compliance, and HR functions. He holds a degree of B.Sc. from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), Ranchi, and an MBA from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad.
