Amisha Vora Inducted Into The Board Stewardship’s ‘Hall Of Fame’ As A ‘Board Laureate’
Board Stewardship had the privilege of honouring Amisha Vora, Chairperson and Managing Director of Prabhudas Lilladher Group, with the prestigious title of “Board Laureate of Board Stewardship” and inducting her in the Board Stewardship’s Hall of Fame. This accolade celebrates her remarkable contributions as a visionary leader and an inspiring Board Director, championing transformative leadership in corporate India.
The recognition was presented by Board Stewardship Chairman Shailesh Haribhakti in the presence of Ms. Kamala K., Chief Regulatory Officer of BSE, Helle Bank CEO & Founder Competent Boards, Canada, Rajeev Peshawaria, CEO Stewardship Asia Centre, Singapore and Vikesh Wallia MD & Editor, Board Stewardship, during Board Stewardship’s landmark conference, “Boards as Stewards of Sustainability,” held at the iconic Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai.
In her special address, Amisha expressed her sincere gratitude to Board Stewardship for considering her for the prestigious recognition. She conveyed feeling humbled and deeply responsible, recognising that the honour bestowed upon her requires a more agile and vigilant focus on the purpose that has guided PL Group for over eight decades. She emphasised that this purpose would continue to drive the company for the next 80 years and beyond.
Taking a moment to reflect on the founding principles of the group, Amisha shared that the core values of trust, transparency, and integrity have remained unchanged since the company’s establishment in 1944. “The vision, values, and purpose at the heart of the group have remained constant, even as mediums of communication and business evolve,” she stated. She explained that the group defines these values as “the complete synchronisation between what you think, what you say, and what you do.” She emphasised that this practice, when followed by individuals, teams, and organisations, naturally creates a circle of trust that expands over time.
She further shared the group’s core purpose, stating, “As a financial institution, we are the true stewards of the hard-earned savings entrusted to us by our clients. Our vision is to help them convert those savings into wealth, making their money work for them.” Amisha highlighted the importance of adding value to clients, noting that it involves understanding their market needs, maintaining discipline to navigate volatility, educating them on market complexities, and advising them on their risk and return expectations. “These fundamental principles are often overlooked in the rush to grow business, but sticking to doing the right thing ensures long-term success and relevance,” she added.
Amisha also spoke on the broader issue of sustainability, stating, “There is a broader circle we must address, which includes our clients, the environment, employees, and management. All these elements must work in harmony for the larger purpose.” Reflecting on the words of Shailesh Haribhakti, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Board Stewardship, who delivered a keynote address before her in the conference, she noted that each individual has a responsibility to contribute to this mission. “I commit once again to upholding this purpose and ensuring I do the right thing,” she concluded.
