Power Grid Appoints Akhilesh Pathak as Director (Projects)

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has appointed Akhilesh Pathak as Director (Projects), effective September 30, 2026, following an order from the Ministry of Power. He will hold the position until his superannuation on May 31, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Pathak assumed charge of Director (Projects) on September 30, 2026, and the company’s Board approved his appointment as an Additional Director [Director (Projects)] at its meeting held the same day. Following his appointment, Chairman and Managing Director Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan relinquished the additional charge of Director (Projects).

The appointment comes as Atul Kumar Bali and Dilip Nagesh Rozekar ceased to serve as Executive Directors of the company upon attaining the age of superannuation on September 30, 2026.

Pathak has over 32 years of experience, he joined Powergrid as part of its first batch of Executive Trainees in 1993 and has since held several leadership positions within the organisation. During his tenure in the Project Management Department, he contributed to project execution and monitoring, including the development and commissioning of Extra High Voltage transmission lines and substations. He also played a key role in the Arun-3 SAPDC Transmission Project in Nepal, navigating cross-border, regulatory and geographical challenges. His experience also includes business development, where he contributed to expanding consultancy services and supporting revenue growth initiatives.

He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Mangalore University, Karnataka, and has completed the Harvard ManageMentor Program conducted by Harvard Business School.
