Bata India Leadership Transition: Gunjan Shah Completes Tenure As MD & CEO
Bata India Limited has announced a leadership transition with Gunjan Shah completing his five-year tenure as Managing Director and CEO with effect from September 30, 2026. Shah has also ceased to be a Director of the company with effect from the same date.
Shah’s tenure began in 2021, and the company had earlier announced that he would complete his full five-year term.
Sanjay S. Rao will take over as the company’s new Managing Director and CEO from October 1, 2026. The Board had approved his appointment as Whole-time Director and CEO effective August 24, 2026, followed by his appointment as Managing Director from October 1, 2026, for a term ending August 23, 2031, subject to applicable approvals.
The leadership change marks a planned transition at the footwear major, with Rao set to lead the company as it enters the next phase of its operations.
