LIC’s Dinesh Pant Retires Voluntarily After Over 35 Years of Service

The Government of India has approved the voluntary retirement of Dinesh Pant, Managing Director and Key Managerial Personnel of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), effective September 24, 2026.

Consequently, he has also stepped down as Chairperson of the Information Technology Strategy Committee and ceased to be a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee.

Pant assumed the role of Managing Director at LIC in June 2025. Prior to this, he served as Appointed Actuary and Executive Director (Actuarial), having held the position of Appointed Actuary since 2017. He played a key role in the planning and launch of LIC’s IPO in 2022 and contributed to the Corporation’s actuarial, product and risk management functions.

With over 35 years of experience in insurance and finance, Pant has held several leadership positions at LIC, including roles in investment research, treasury, marketing, actuarial functions and legal affairs. He also served as General Manager (Life) at Kenindia Assurance Company Ltd. in Kenya.

Pant is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Actuaries of India and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. He holds degrees in Engineering and Law, along with a master’s in business administration.
