Suraj Bahirwani Set To Succeed Sangeeta Tanwani As CEO Of Pantaloons At ABFRL

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) has appointed Suraj Bahirwani as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pantaloons and Senior Management Personnel (SMP), effective August 1, 2026. Bahirwani will succeed Sangeeta Tanwani, who will move to another role within ABFRL, effective July 31, 2026.

Bhirwani is CEO Designate at Pantaloons under ABFRL and has over 24 years of experience within the Aditya Birla Group. His work spans strategy, B2C, and B2B operations, with exposure to customer-facing and enterprise business environments across multiple markets and teams. During his career, he has received multiple Chairman’s Awards within the Aditya Birla Group. He has also been recognised on external platforms, including Business Today and The Economic Times ‘40 Under 40’ lists. His experience includes roles involving business planning, operations, and cross-functional execution within retail and related business segments of the group. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Ph.D. in Business Policy and Administration, along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research. His academic background combines finance, strategy, and execution.

Tanwani is a senior business leader with over 35 years of experience across FMCG, retail, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. She is the CEO of Pantaloons and Style Up brands at ABFRL. She was earlier the Managing Director (MD) for the Kellogg Company in India and South Asia. She has also served as Chairperson of the FICCI Food Processing Committee for two years. Her previous roles include senior positions at Coca-Cola India, HSBC, Hindustan Unilever, and Novartis, where she began her career. She has been recognised in Fortune’s list of most powerful women in business in India for six consecutive years from 2012 to 2017. She was also listed among the top influential women in media and marketing and featured in Business Today’s list of most powerful women in Indian business. In 2020, she received the “CEO of the Year” recognition at the ET Prime Women Leadership Awards and the Aditya Birla Group Chairman’s Award for Leader of the Leaders in 2022.
