The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to strengthen Corporate Governance, ESG frameworks, and capital markets in India.

The agreement was signed in Mumbai on May 19, 2026. The collaboration will focus on capacity building, policy development, research, and training in securities markets and corporate regulation. Under the partnership, the institutions will jointly introduce certification courses, executive education modules, and training programmes for SEBI officials and professionals from the financial and regulatory sectors. The initiative will also work on improving MSME access to capital markets, sustainability disclosures, investor education, and research in regulatory areas.

SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the collaboration aims to support governance systems, sustainability reporting, and research-led regulation.

The MoU will also cover insolvency frameworks, valuation standards, Board governance, sustainable finance, responsible investing, and market integrity through joint studies, conferences, curriculum development, and faculty exchange programmes.
