
SEBI Approves Sanjay Shorey & Viral Mody’s Appointments As Executive Directors At NSE
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Sanjay Shorey and Viral Mody as Executive Directors at the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Before joining NSE, Shorey served as Director General of Corporate Affairs (DGCoA) in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). In that role, he worked on Corporate Governance frameworks, ESG-related compliance, and regulatory oversight mechanisms. He also supported the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the MCA21 platform to improve compliance processes and automate the issuance of notices related to incentives. He was appointed DGCoA on an ad-hoc basis in February 2024. In February 2026, he was included in an advisory group on ease of doing business at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA).
Viral Mody has been appointed for the critical operations vertical. He has worked with NSE for nearly 20 years and served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). At NSE, he has led the design and execution of technology systems that support trading, market operations, regulatory processes, and digital services. Earlier in his career, he also worked with companies such as TCS and Wipro. His experience spans capital markets technology, real-time systems, and exchange operations, covering both technical and functional domains across NSE. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Mumbai.
