
Nobuo Okochi Appointed As CFO Of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India; Amit Harlalka Elevated To CEO Role
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India, a joint venture between two of the world’s leading steel manufacturers, has appointed Nobuo Okochi as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective July 1, 2026. The move follows the elevation of Amit Harlalka to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
Okochi currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) for India, ASEAN, the Middle East, and Africa at Nippon Steel Corporation. In his new role, he will oversee finance, strategy, financial planning, capital allocation, and governance functions. He has worked with Nippon Steel for four decades, holding roles in finance, capital planning, and business development. His experience includes work on international operations and cross-border steel projects.
Harlalka is a finance professional associated with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, where he joined in 2019 as Deputy Director of Finance, and was appointed CFO in January 2023. Before this, he held roles within ArcelorMittal across locations including Mexico, Zenica, and Luxembourg, working in finance, operations, and project control. He began his career at Hindustan Unilever. He is also a member of the ArcelorMittal Group Management Committee. Harlalka is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds an MBA in finance from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B).
