
CCI & MeitY Hold Talks On Competition Law & DPDP Act
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will deliberate on issues related to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), and its interface with competition law.
The Chairperson of CCI and the Secretary of MeitY led the discussions, which were also attended by senior officials from both institutions. The meeting covered the rapid growth of the digital sector, data protection, competition concerns, and consumer welfare. Presentations were made on the DPDP Act, the Competition Act, 2002, and CCI’s initiatives in digital markets. Both sides expressed commitment to regular engagement and a consultative regulatory approach to align data governance with competition principles. The discussions aimed at encouraging cooperation to support India’s secure, competitive, and digitally empowered economy.
