Google Submits Plan To Resolve Online Search Monopoly Case

Google has proposed changes to address a court ruling that it illegally maintained a monopoly in online search. The proposals focus on less restrictive agreements with companies, following Judge Amit P. Mehta’s decision involving exclusive deals with Apple and Samsung.

Google suggested allowing flexibility in choosing search engines for browsers and devices. The company proposed less restrictive deals, enabling manufacturers to pre-install multiple search engines on devices. Google also allowed the installation of its apps without tying them to its search engine or AI assistant.

Google plans to appeal the ruling after remedies are decided next year, potentially reshaping its USD 175 billion search business and setting a precedent in tech antitrust cases.
