Wipro Appoints Srinivas Pallia as MD & CEO As Thierry Delaporte Quits Prematurely

The Board of Directors of Wipro Limited has approved the appointment of Srinivas Pallia as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) with effect from April 7, 2024, for five years. Subject to the approval of shareholders and the Central Government as may be applicable. He replaced Thierry Delaporte.

On Saturday, the company announced the departure of CEO Thierry Delaporte, a move that comes shortly before the release of its annual financial results. Delaporte had 15 months left in his term as CEO.

While the retirement age at Wipro is 58, Pallia will extend his tenure as CEO for another five years, concluding his leadership at the age of 61.

Srinivas Pallia is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Wipro Limited. With a career spanning over three decades and a deep and broad background across Wipro’s various geographies, functions, service lines, and business units, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his role. Having joined Wipro in 1992, he has held numerous leadership roles, including President of Wipro’s Consumer Business Unit and Global Head of Business Application Services. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Americas 1, Wipro’s largest and fastest-growing market. In this role, he led a wide range of industry sectors and was responsible for establishing their vision, as well as shaping and implementing growth strategies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He graduated from Harvard Business School’s Leading Global Businesses executive programme and the Advanced Leadership Programme at McGill Executive Institute.
