GE T&D India Appoints Rathindra Nath Basu as Independent Director

The Board of Directors of GE T&D India Limited has appointed Rathindra Nath Basu as Additional Director under the category of Independent Director with effect from January 16, 2024, subject to the approval of shareholders. The Board also appointed him as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, with effect from January 16, 2024. The Board has also accepted the resignation of Mahesh Shrikrishna Palashikar as Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from January 15, 2024, who has resigned due to other professional commitments.

Rathin Basu has worked over four decades, serving as CEO of Cegelec India, VP Power Distribution Business in Paris HQ, Country President and Managing Director of Areva T&D India (later Alstom T&D India, GE T&D India), and Country President of Alstom India & South Asia. He also chaired Alstom Power India, which became GE Power India after its acquisition by GE. After GE’s acquisition of Alstom’s global power and T&D businesses in 2015, Rathin moved to Paris HQ as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing the Sales, Marketing & Strategy of GE Grid’s global business. He is now retired from GE. He holds a BTech in Electronics from Calcutta University’s Science College, a BSc (Honours in Physics) from St. Xavier’s College, and completed the ‘Advanced Management Programme’ at INSEAD, France.
