Shobhana Bhartia reappointed Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media
Shobhana Bhartia has been reappointed as the Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media Limited. While Praveen Someshwar has been reappointed as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer.
Shobhana Bhartia is the Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media. Bhartia also serves as the Pro-Chancellor of the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences. Besides her roles in India, she is part of international organisations: she’s a member of the India Advisory Board at the London School of Economics, a member of the International Advisory Board of the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University, and a member of the Board of Visitors at the Columbia Journalism School in New York. In 2006, the Indian Government honoured her with the Padma Shri award for her excellence in journalism. She was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Indian Parliament, and served on committees related to Energy, Women Empowerment, and Human Resource Development. She has received several awards, including the ABLF Sustainable Leadership Icon Award in 2019, the French Republic’s highest civilian award, Officier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur in 2016, and the Global Leadership Award in 2015 by the US-India Business Council. She has been recognized as Media Person of the Year in 2012, Businesswoman of the Year in 2007, and Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005, among other honours. In 1996, she was named a Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Praveen Someshwar serves as the MD and CEO of HT Media Group. With nearly 30 years of experience. Under his leadership, HT Media Group is transforming into a modern media company driven by digital innovation. During his 4 years with the group, Praveen has assembled a highly effective, collaborative leadership team committed to delivering long-term value for shareholders. Before joining HT Media Group, he played a pivotal role in PepsiCo’s food and beverage business across Asia during his 24-year career, including a leadership position as Senior Vice President and General Manager based in Hong Kong, where he oversaw all PepsiCo operations in Asia, excluding China and India.
