Arvind Fashions Reappoints Achal Bakeri as Independent Director

Arvind Fashions Limited reappoints Achal Anil Bakeri and Nagesh Pinge as Independent Directors on September 12, 2023.

The company also announced the reappointment of Sanjay Bhai Shrenik bhai Lalbhai and Suresh Jayaraman as the Director.

Achal Bakeri is the Chairman and Managing Director of Symphony Limited, where he spearheads essential organizational functions like corporate strategy, international expansion initiatives, and talent development. His visionary leadership has propelled Symphony to become the global leader in air cooler manufacturing. He has 32 years of diverse experience in construction, exports, manufacturing, and design development. Bakeri is an Architect by training and also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.

During his extensive 35-year career, Nagesh Pinge has held prominent positions in esteemed organizations, including Tata Motors, where he oversaw Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Ethics. His professional journey also includes roles at Reliance Retail Ltd, JSW Steel Ltd, and ICICI Bank, along with its affiliated companies. Furthermore, he serves as an Independent Director in several reputable companies and previously held the position of President at the Institute of Internal Auditors in India. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Law Graduate. Additionally, he completed the Executive Education Program at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in the USA.

Sanjay Shrenik bhai Lalbhai is the Chairman and Managing Director of Arvind Fashion. In a career spanning over four decades, he has overseen the remarkable transformation of Arvind, initially a traditional textile mill, into a global leader in denim manufacturing, fine woven fabrics, and apparel solutions. Under his guidance, the foundation was laid for the company’s branded apparel division, introducing India’s early brands like Flying Machine and Arrow, and establishing Exclusive Brand Outlets. He also holds significant roles as the President of Ahmedabad Education Society, Ahmedabad University, and CEPT University. He also serves as the Chairman of the Council of Administration for the Ahmedabad Textile Industry Research Association (ATIRA). Lalbhai firmly believes that addressing societal concerns and contributing to the betterment of society are essential components of business strategy and the responsibility of every business leader. He provides strategic direction to SHARDA Trust, which is Arvind’s CSR arm. Sanjay Lalbhai holds an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute.

Suresh Jayaraman has more than 30 years of experience in industries like FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), Lifestyle Brands, and Retail. He spent a significant part of his career, 18 years, at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he managed sales for the beverages business and was part of the management team for Food and Beverages between 1999 and 2002. After HUL, he became the CEO of MTR Foods Ltd, where he transformed a local brand into a well-known national and global one. He studied engineering and earned an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
