Zohra Chatteri resigns as Independent Director of DishTV
Zohra Chatterji has tendered her resignation as Non-Executive Independent Director of DishTV India Limited, effective from the close of business hours on June 2, 2023. Prior to her retirement in 2014, she served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles in the Government of India. Zohra Chatterji, belonging to the 1979 Batch of the IAS, UP Cadre, has held significant positions throughout her career, including Secretary and Director of Industries, Labour Commissioner, Secretary & DG Tourism, and Secretary & Project Director of Basic Education in her home state.
In 2007, she joined the Government of India as Joint Secretary, Broadcasting in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Her accomplishments include serving as the Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women, where she played a crucial role in drafting key amendments to the Criminal Law Amendment Bill and the Act for Prevention of Harassment of Women at the Workplace. Furthermore, she held the position of Additional Secretary of Coal and acted as the first woman CMD of Coal India, simultaneously chairing the IMG responsible for monitoring and de-allocation of coal blocks.
In February 2013, Zohra Chatterji assumed the role of Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Textiles. She is a graduate of Physics from Miranda House, New Delhi, and holds a post-graduate degree in English Literature from AMU. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of Lucknow, she also serves as the President of Alliance Française in Lucknow, an organization supported by the Government of France for the teaching of the French language.
