Wells Fargo Appoints Ex-JP Morgan Executive Fernando Rivas as Co-CEO

On May 8, 2024, Wells Fargo announced the appointment of former JPMorgan Chase executive Fernando Rivas as Co-CEO of its Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division, signalling a strategic move to enhance its presence in the Wall Street market.

Rivas, who most recently held the position of Head of North American Investment Banking at JPMorgan, brings with him nearly three decades of experience from the largest U.S. bank by assets.

Effective immediately, Rivas will join Wells Fargo’s operating committee and report directly to CEO Charlie Scharf. He will share the responsibilities of leading the CIB division with Jon Weiss, who has been serving as CEO since February 2020.
