Walmart International CEO Kathryn McLay Set To Step Down

Kathryn McLay, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Walmart International, will step down from her position, effective January 31, 2026, after leading the division for two and a half years. She will stay on through the first quarter to support a smooth transition. Walmart has not yet announced its successor but stated that the replacement will be named shortly.

McLay served as President and CEO of Sam’s Club U.S., delivering 12 consecutive quarters of double-digit sales growth, enhancing merchandise quality, expanding omnichannel capabilities, and guiding the business through the pandemic. She is an experienced retail executive with a career spanning Walmart’s U.S. and international operations. She began her Walmart career in U.S. strategy and supply chain and later led the Neighbourhood Market business. She was appointed CEO of Walmart International in August 2023, overseeing operations in 18 countries, including fast-growth markets like China and India. Throughout her career, McLay has focused on operational performance, customer experience, and team leadership.
