Vedveer Arya Replaces Dr. Sushma Agarwal As Director Of BPCL

Vedveer Arya has been appointed as an Additional Director on the Board of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) w.e.f. March 9, 2026. He succeeds Dr. Sushma Agarwal, who retired upon completion of her tenure effective March 10, 2026.

Arya is a 1997-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS). He currently serves as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Earlier, he worked as Joint Secretary and Additional Financial Advisor (R&D) at the Ministry of Defence. He has also served as Integrated Financial Adviser to the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and the Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram. Arya held the position of Director (Finance) at Defence Research and Development Organisation in Hyderabad, where he worked on the Agni Missile Programme and other missile programmes. In addition to his administrative roles, he has written books on Indian history and mathematics. He holds a Master’s degree in Arts from the University of Delhi.

Dr. Agarwal served as Principal of Shardayatan High School for 18 years, where she was involved in academic administration and school management. Agarwal has also served as Director of the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board (GPSSB) in Gujarat, where she was associated with recruitment and administrative processes related to the state’s panchayat services. She holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Botany and has experience in education and district administration.
