Vandana Bhagavatula Resigns from Shakti Pumps Board Citing Banking Sector Conflict
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has announced that Vandana Bhagavatula has resigned from the position of Non-Executive Woman Independent Director, effective from the close of business hours on December 06, 2025. With this development, she will also step down as Chairperson of the company’s Audit Committee.
In her communication to the company, Bhagavatula cited her current role as a Shareholder Director on the Board of a large commercial bank as the primary reason for her resignation. She noted that, given the significant exposure of Shakti Pumps within the Indian banking system, it would be “prudent and ethically appropriate” to step down from the board of a listed entity to avoid any perceived or potential conflict of interest.
Bhagavatula joined the Board of Shakti Pumps in March 2025. During her tenure, she contributed her extensive knowledge in audits, compliance, taxation, and strategic planning to the company’s governance framework.
A seasoned finance and compliance professional, Bhagavatula is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Information Systems Auditor with 25 years of experience in auditing, taxation, valuations, and regulatory compliance. She previously served as Proprietor of VB & Associates, Director at Aneja Associates, and held a senior compliance role at HDFC Bank Ltd. She currently works as a freelance consultant specialising in financial audits, regulatory compliance, and business strategy.
In addition to her consulting practice, Bhagavatula serves as a Shareholder Director on the Board of Punjab National Bank (PNB). At PNB, she holds key positions across several high-level committees, including the Audit Committee of the Board and the Stakeholders Relationship Committee as Chairperson, and the Risk Management, Nomination and Remuneration, IT Strategy, Customer Service, HR Steering, Capital Raising, and the Committee for Review of Identification of Wilful Defaulters as a member.
