Tuhin Kanta Pandey Outlines SEBI’s Plan For AI-Driven Cyber Safety Analysis

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the regulator is developing an artificial intelligence-based inspection tool to analyse the cyber safety preparedness of regulated entities. Speaking at the BSE event marking 40 years of the Sensex, Pandey said the tool will support risk-based supervision. The system will analyse cyber audit reports, identify control gaps, and classify entities based on risk exposure.

Pandey said SEBI is also constituting a working group to create a technology roadmap for market infrastructure institutions. The roadmap will outline a five-year short-term plan and a ten-year long-term technology framework for the securities market ecosystem. He urged stock exchanges and other institutions to invest in technology, risk management, and cyber resilience. Pandey said SEBI is strengthening regulatory systems to support market integrity amid growth in investor participation. He added that the Sensex reflects the evolution of India’s capital markets since its launch in 1986 and noted the role of BSE in this process.
