The FDA and the FTC have issued warning letters about ‘copycat’ products of renowned food brands
The FDA and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have joined forces to send warning letters to six companies currently marketing edible products containing Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in packaging that is almost identical to many snacks and candy children eat. These include some of the popular brands like Doritos tortilla chips, Cheetos cheese-flavoured snacks, and Nerds candy.
Following the legalisation of hemp plus its related products under the Farm Bill of 2018, the demand for delta-8 THC along with other new cannabinoids has grown quickly in recent years. The FDA and FTC are focusing on companies whose packaging or statements about medical advantages are exceptionally deceptive.
