Tapan Ray & Prof. Ravindra H. Dholakia Retire As lndependent Directors Of Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals
Tapan Ray and Prof. Ravindra H. Dholakia have completed their term as lndependent Directors of Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited and consequently retired with effect from September 1, 2025.
Ray is the Managing Director and Group CEO of GIFTCL, Gandhinagar. He is a professional with 35 years of service in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), having worked across key ministries including defence, textiles, power, science & technology, planning, and corporate affairs. He also served as Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Gujarat, and held senior positions in various public sector enterprises. As Managing Director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation and its group companies for five years, he gained extensive corporate leadership experience. His expertise spans finance, economics, technology, law, capital markets, management, foreign trade, public policy, and administration. He has served on the Board of SEBI and as DG, NIC. Post-retirement, he became Non-Executive Chairman of the Central Bank of India.
Prof. Dholakia, retired Professor of Economics from IIM Ahmedabad, has over 43 years of experience in research, teaching, training, and consulting in macroeconomic measurement, policy, regional development, and sectoral issues, including health, education, labour, and rural development. He has served as a consultant to central and state governments, public and private enterprises, and international organisations such as the World Bank, ADB, WHO, and UNICEF. Prof. Dholakia has contributed to several high-powered committees formed by governments on economic and social policy matters. His academic contributions include more than 140 research papers, 23 books, and 51 monographs.
