Tapan Mitra & Rajendra Chitale Appointed As Independent Directors Of Apollo Tyres
Tapan Mitra and Rajendra Chitale have been appointed as Independent Directors of Apollo Tyres Limited, effective February 9, 2026.
Mitra retired in 2015 and currently serves as an Independent Director with PTL Enterprises Ltd. and Classic Industries, and Exports Ltd. His professional journey includes participation in leadership development programmes at IMD Lausanne, IIMs, XLRI, and INSEAD. He brings 40 years of experience across operational and corporate human resources roles. He began his career as a Management Trainee at JK Papers, followed by leadership positions at Voltas Ltd. as Plant HR Head and Ballarpur Industries Ltd. (BILT), where he served as Vice President (VP) of HR and led corporate HR functions. He later headed human resources at Apollo Tyres Ltd., guiding the development of HR systems and processes. Mitra holds a degree from Delhi University and an MA in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics.
Chitale is the Managing Partner of M. P. Chitale & Co., a leading audit firm, and Chitale & Co., a prominent structuring and tax advisory firm. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of Everest Industries Ltd and DAM Capital Advisors Ltd. Over the years, he has contributed to several key regulatory and governmental committees, including SEBI, IRDAI, FSLRC, CCI, the High Powered Committee on UTI restructuring, the Maharashtra Board for Restructuring of State Enterprises, and the Investor Education & Protection Fund Committee. He has also served on the Boards of LIC, UTI, SIDBI, NSE, NSCCL, and CCIL. Chitale advises global and Indian institutions on structuring, taxation, law, and regulatory matters.
