    Granules India’s Independent Director Arun Rao Akinepally Retired

    Arun Rao Akinepally is completing his second term as Independent Director of Granules India Limited on March 31, 2024, and will cease to be an Independent Director of the company thereafter.

    Arun Rao Akinepally serves as the Managing Director of Akin Laboratories Private Ltd. He possesses extensive expertise in the finished dosage sector and technical operations. Additionally, he holds positions on the Boards of ESPI Industries, Chemicals Private, and Sanzyme. He has held significant roles within the Indian Pharmaceutical Association at both the central and state levels. He holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras and an MS from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA.

    In a communication to the stock exchanges, the company has announced that Sethu Madhavan Sankaran has been appointed as Senior Vice President, API Manufacturing and Operations, with effect from March 29, 2024, and has been designated as one of the SMPs of the company.

    Sethu Madhavan is an M.Tech. (Chemical Engineer) from ICT and brings 27 years of experience in manufacturing and operations. He is a results-driven leader experienced in spanning diverse industries, including Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, and Biopharma Technology, the company said. Before joining Granules India, he worked with leading organisations like Biocon Biologics Ltd., Teva API, Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy’s, and Herdillia Chemicals. In his last assignment, he was associated with Biocon Biologics Ltd. as a Global Head of Operations for the Insulin business.

    The Board of Directors of Granules India Limited appointed Rajiv PritidasKakodkar as an Additional Director, categorised as a Non-Executive Independent Director, with effect from February 20, 2024. Subject to the approval of the members.

    Rajiv PritidasKakodkar has over 40 years of experience in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. Kakodkar’s areas of expertise include global sourcing, indenting, trading, and distribution of pharmaceutical ingredients. He founded Daiwat Chemicals in 1983, which began as an exclusive representative and indent sales agent of a French multinational. Over time, he has been involved in the sourcing of drug substances from India on behalf of multiple innovators and generic pharmaceutical companies, as well as worldwide distributors of APIs. Through this long association with the industry, he has had a first-hand view of its evolution from technocrat-driven single-product factories to world-class, multi-workshop facilities with all the requisite regulatory approvals. He owns and operates businesses in India and Singapore. He is also serving as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Indoco Remedies and Vasundhara Rasayans. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from the Stuart School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology, USA.

    Uma Rao Ganduri ceased to be the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Granules India Limited, with effect from January 31, 2024.

    Uma Rao G. has over 30 years of experience in human resources. Prior to Granules India, she held positions such as Vice President of Human Resources at Ashok Leyland, Chief Human Resources Officer at HIL Limited (a C K Birla Group Company), Director of People and Organisation at Mars, General Manager at IBM, General Manager of HR at Idea Cellular Limited, Assistant General Manager of HR at Tata Consultancy Services, and Deputy Manager of Personnel at HPCL. She holds an Advanced Management Programme certificate from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management as well as an M.A., PM&IR from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
