
Sundeep Sikka Appointed As Chairman & Vishal Kapoor As Vice Chairman Of AMFI
The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the industry body representing all SEBI-registered Asset Management Companies (AMCs), has appointed Sundeep Sikka as Chairman and Vishal Kapoor as Vice Chairman.
Sikka currently serves as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nippon Life India Asset Management (NAM). He served as Chairman of AMFI from 2013 to 2015 and has been a Board member since 2009. He joined NAM India in 2003 and became CEO in 2009, among the youngest in the industry. He has held leadership roles at AMFI, CII, RBI, NSDL, and FICCI, contributing actively to policy discussions and industry development. Sikka holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and an MBA in finance from Pune University. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Kapoor is the CEO of Bandhan Asset Management Company, with nearly three decades of experience in financial services spanning asset management and banking. Before joining Bandhan AMC, he served as Managing Director (MD) and Head of Wealth Management at Standard Chartered Bank and earlier worked with American Express and ITC Threadneedle AMC in India and the US. He has actively contributed to the growth of India’s wealth management industry through roles in regulatory and industry working groups. He has served as Director of the Financial Planning and Standards Board of India and the Financial Intermediaries Association of India. Currently, he is a Director on AMFI’s Board and Chairs its Standing Committee on Mutual Fund Distributors. He is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
