Summit 2025 Honours the Titans of Boards: Global Board Legend, India Board Legend & India Board Icon
The Board Stewardship Global Corporate Governance Summit 2025 concluded at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) with a distinguished Hall of Fame ceremony that celebrated leaders who have shaped India’s evolving governance landscape. Over two days of dialogue on governance, sustainability, technology and board readiness, the Summit reserved its most anticipated moments for recognising individuals who have set benchmarks in board leadership and stewardship.
For the first time in India, the Hall of Fame was introduced with lifetime achievement–level honours, making all awardees the inaugural recipients of these distinctions.
The highest global honour of the evening, Global Board Legend, was conferred upon Dr. Ram Charan. Renowned for his unmatched strategic insight, influential writings and decades of advisory work with Fortune 100 companies, Dr. Charan’s recognition celebrated a lifetime dedicated to transforming how boards think, act and prepare for the future. His frameworks and philosophy continue to guide directors across continents and shape modern governance principles.
The Summit also celebrated Vishnubhai B. Haribhakti as India Board Legend, acknowledging his lifelong contribution to strengthening ethical governance, sustainability-driven thinking and transparency in board operations. His work has helped embed responsible oversight, risk discipline and long-term value creation across India’s corporate sector, marking a defining moment for the Indian governance community.
In the India Board Icon category, Sanjeeb Chaudhuri was recognised for his influential leadership across global banking and consumer sectors. His contributions to brand strategy, digital transformation and board-level innovation have shaped impactful corporate transitions across markets. Richard Rekhy was also honoured for his distinguished experience in board advisory and his role in advancing governance best practices. This category is envisioned as a reference point for India’s most inspiring board icons, beginning with leaders such as Sanjeeb Chaudhuri of IDFC Bank.
Two eminent Boards, Anita Ramachandran and Vartika Shukla, were honoured as Board Laureates for their exemplary contributions to boardroom leadership. Ramachandran’s pioneering work in HR governance and ethical leadership, and Shukla’s achievements in engineering excellence and strategic transformation, were recognised as cornerstones of India’s evolving boardroom standards.
The Hall of Fame ceremony further acknowledged Corporate Fellow Members, who continue to shape governance thought leadership. Aditya Sisodia and Deepak Rastogi were felicitated for their commitment to strengthening board capabilities and governance excellence. The Summit also highlighted the Fellow recognitions completed on Day 1, underscoring the depth and diversity of expertise within the community.
With these honours, the Summit reinforced a powerful message: India’s governance future will be shaped by leaders who combine deep expertise with integrity, vision and an unwavering commitment to building boards that are responsible, resilient and future-ready.
