SIS Appoints Dr. Onkar Sharma As Independent Director & Reappoints Deepak Kumar As Independent Director
Dr. Onkar Sharma has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) on the Board of SIS Limited, with effect from January 29, 2026, subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Deepak Kumar has been reappointed as an Independent Director, with effect from June 27, 2026, subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Dr. Sharma is a former Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Government of India, with academic qualifications in commerce, law, labour laws, and a Ph.D. He is an expert in labour policy, labour laws, and industrial relations. He currently advises governments on regulatory and legislative reforms, wage policy, occupational safety and health, working conditions, welfare, social security, and compliance digitisation. During his government career, he held senior roles including Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Deputy Director General for Labour Welfare, CEO and Welfare Commissioner of the Delhi Labour Welfare Board, and Fellow at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute. He has contributed to drafting labour codes, served on national and international committees, worked with the ILO and UN agencies, published research, and leads training and capacity-building programmes.
Kumar is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer with over 42 years of experience in public administration at the state and central levels. He retired as Chief Secretary of Bihar and currently works as Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office on contract. He served as District Magistrate and Collector in nine districts in Bihar and later held roles as Secretary and Principal Secretary in departments including Health, Urban Development and Housing, General Administration, Cabinet, Tourism, and Information and Public Relations. At the central level, he worked in the Ministries of Finance, External Affairs, and Home Affairs. He also served as Director General of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation and as Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India.
