Shantanu Roy Takes over as Chairman & Managing Director of BEML

Shantanu Roy assumed charge of Chairman & Managing Director on 1st August 2023. With over 30 years of experience in various capital goods sectors including Defense, Mining & Construction, Transportation, Transmission, Renewable, and large power projects.

Prior to assuming his present position, Shantanu Roy served as the Director of the Mining & Construction Business vertical. During his tenure in this role, significant performance improvements were achieved within the Mining & Construction Business vertical, the company said in a release. In a previous role, Roy was head of BHEL’s Marketing and Business Development team for Neighbouring countries, the Middle East & Americas, as well as the after-sales business for all overseas operations. Prior to that, he was in charge of production and operations at BHEL’s Bhopal Unit.

Shantanu Roy possesses expertise in various models of project financing, mechanisms and processes for financial closure of large projects, international laws, arbitration rules, international legal & arbitration cases, and statutory & Legal Compliances. Roy holds a degree in MBA in Financial Management and also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from NIT Raipur. Additionally, he completed training in Rolling Stock electrics and rotating electrical machines in the Netherlands and Germany.
