Shalimar Paints Appoints Vijay Kumar Sharma as Independent Director

The Board of Directors of Shalimar Paints Limited has approved the appointment of Vijay Kumar Sharma as a Non-Executive Independent Director for three years w.e.f. July 23, 2024.

The Board has also approved the appointment of C. Venugopal as a Whole-time Director (designated as Chief Operating Officer and Whole-time Director) under the category of Key Managerial Personnel for three years w.e.f. July 23, 2024.

The said appointments are subject to the approval of the shareholders.

Sharma has 40 years’ of corporate experience. He has overseen the profitability of the service centre chains of the Jindal Stainless Group in India and Spain. He is a regular speaker at premium institutes, national, and international webinars and conferences. He has been awarded multiple accolades for his contributions to the stainless steel and automotive industries. He is on the Boards of the Indian Iron and Steel Skill Sector Council, JSL Lifestyle, and Jindal Stainless Steelways. He serves as the Chairman of the Haryana State Development Council of ASSOCHAM. He also actively participates in various initiatives of apex associations like FICCI, CII, PHDCCI, ISA, and ISSDA. He has a graduate degree in engineering from Punjab Engineering College and an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies. He has also pursued specialisations from distinguished institutes such as IIFT, YMCA, AOTS, Aptech, and IIM (A).

Venugopal has three decades of experience in some of the most well-known MNCs. He has managed some of the most competitive categories, working with Morton Foods, Umang Dairies, Nippon Paint India, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Godrej Sara Lee, Reckitt Benckiser, CavinKare, etc.
