Shailesh Haribhakti To Join TVS Motors’ Board As Independent Director

India’s third-largest motorcycle manufacturer, TVS Motor Company Limited, has announced the appointment of Shailesh Haribhakti as an Independent Director.

Shailesh Haribhakti is a distinguished professional, holding certifications as a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant, Internal Auditor, and Certified Financial Planner and Fraud Examiner. Haribhakti serves as the Board Chairman, Audit Committee Chair, and Independent Director in renowned organisations. He holds independent directorships with companies like Swiggy, Blue Star, Bajaj Electrical, and L&T Finance Holdings and Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd, among others. A champion of sustainability, he has been credited with establishing the concept of ‘Innovate to Zero’. He advocates for Exponential Technologies (ExTech), ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and Integrated Reporting (IR). He is also the author of two books and actively shares his insights in various forums.

Coincidentally, the Board of Bajaj Electricals also approved the reappointment of Shailesh Haribhakti as an Independent Director for a second term of five consecutive years, effective from August 7, 2024, to August 6, 2029.

Mr. Haribhakti is closely associated with Board Stewardship Inc. He writes a monthly column in the Board Stewardship E-magazine, India’s first Board magazine.

Furthermore, TVS Motors approved the appointment of Chennai-based Sanmar Group’s Chairman, Vijay Sankar, as an Independent Director.

Sankar holds several independent directorships and trustee positions, including at Oriental Hotels and the Transport Corporation of India. He is also the Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Chennai.
