Shailendra Kumar Succeeds Santosh Dattatraya Vaidya As Government Nominee Director Of J&K Bank

Shailendra Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) of the Finance Department, has been appointed as the Government Nominee Director of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited, effective March 2, 2026. He succeeds Santosh Dattatraya Vaidya, who retired upon completion of his tenure, effective the above-mentioned date.

Kumar is a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 1995 batch of the AGMUT cadre. Over nearly three decades in public service, he has held administrative roles in finance and governance. His work has involved policy implementation, financial management, and oversight within government departments. He holds a master’s degree in history from Patna University.

Vaidya has served in public administration at the state, national, and international levels. He transitioned from the Indian Police Service (IPS) to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1998 and has served in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Jammu and Kashmir. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, where he received a Silver Medal. He holds a master’s degree in economics from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and a master’s in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University.
