SEBI Urges CAs To Partner In Strengthening Capital Market Transparency

At the 22nd National CA Conference 2025, SEBI’s Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey highlighted the growth of India’s capital markets, with market capitalisation rising from Rs 100 trillion in FY15 to over Rs 470 trillion and active individual investors increasing from 1.2 crore in 2020 to 3.5 crore in 2025.

SEBI outlined reforms, including mandatory confirmation of market rumours for the top 250 listed entities, improved disclosures in price band advertisements, simplified IPO and related party transaction filings, and flexible BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting) Core reporting. Market development initiatives include the Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) and the ‘SWAGAT – FIIs’ framework for streamlined FII onboarding. Investor protection tools such as “Validated UPI handles”, the “SEBI Check” tool, and the PaRRVA2 platform were introduced. The regulator emphasised collaboration with CAs to enhance valuation standards, forensic techniques, and transparency in the evolving digital market landscape.
