
SEBI Reports 703 Settlement Pleas In FY25, Collects Rs 799 Crore In Charges
According to the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) 2024-25 annual report, the regulator received 703 settlement applications, up from 434 in FY24, for alleged violations of securities laws. Of these, 284 pleas were settled, while 272 were rejected, returned, or withdrawn.
SEBI collected Rs 798.87 crore in settlement charges and Rs 64.84 crore as disgorgement, covering violations such as insider trading, fraudulent trading, and breaches involving AIFs, mutual funds, and FPIs. The report also noted 533 new appeals before the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) compared with 821 the previous year, with 422 cases disposed. Meanwhile, SEBI said “difficult-to-recover” dues rose to Rs 77,800 crore in FY25. It clarified that this classification does not prevent recovery officers from pursuing dues if recovery becomes feasible.
