Santosh Kumar Mohanty Appointed As Independent Director Of UPL

Santosh Kumar Mohanty has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) of UPL Limited, effective from March 06, 2025, subject to the approval of the members.

Mohanty began his career with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in 1985 and joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1991 as Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, later becoming Commissioner of Income Tax in 2012. He is currently a Director at Acuite Ratings, LG Electronics India, SBI CDMDF Trustee, Computer Age Management Services, and Bajaj Finserv Asset Management. He joined the Forward Markets Commission (FMC) in 2013 as a Director and moved to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in 2015 as Executive Director, later serving as a Whole-Time Member (WTM) from 2018 to 2023.

Mohanty holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Utkal University, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and a PG Diploma in Securities Laws from Mumbai University, and a master’s degree in international studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
