Samsung Appoints New Co-CEO And Chip Unit Heads To Address Growing AI Demand
Samsung Electronics on Wednesday named Jun Young-Hyun as co-CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and Head of its memory chip business and Han Jin-man as President and Head of the foundry business.
This leadership reshuffle comes as Samsung aims to enhance its competitiveness in the AI chip market, where it lags behind rivals SK Hynix and TSMC. Samsung also announced the departure of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Park Hark-kyu, who will move to a new role. The reshuffle follows concerns over Samsung’s ability to supply high-end chips to Nvidia and a significant drop in profits in the chip division. Also, the company appointed Nam Seok-woo as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the foundry business and made several other strategic appointments.
